What to Expect from Mobile Phone Makers in 2020

By Magic Actions - Thursday, 30 January 2020. Hi, everyone! As if you didn't already know, three weeks ago was CES 2020, the world's biggest technology show held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There weren't many phones this year at CES. Probably, phone makers retained the high-end features for the world's largest mobile event, which will be held in Barcelona this February, but important trends in smartphone tech that we will see in 2020 are already visible.

Under-Display Front Camera

One of the smartphone trends in 2020 is under-display selfie camera. As the screens on phones get larger, mobile phone manufacturers are creating displays that are transparent enough to hide selfie cameras under to negate the need for a notch.

More Affordable Foldable Phones

Foldable phones debuted in 2019 with Samsung and Huawei, but neither are cheap at all. Folding screen technology is new and still expensive, but according to rumors, this year, we can expect folding phones at relatively reasonable prices around $1,000.

Cheaper 5G Smartphones

As you know, 5G mobile network provides ultrafast browsing and downloading speeds, but 5G phones are still more expensive than 4G phones with the same specifications. As more 5G phones go on sale in 2020, phone buyers will be happy to know that prices are already dropping.

More Megapixels and More Cameras

Camera technology has always been important for phones, so companies try to insert as many cameras as possible, and this trend will continue in 2020. The same applies to the number of megapixels. In 2020, we can expect that mid-range phone models will get even more megapixels from 48 to 64 or 108.

High Refresh Rate Displays

As the 5G network provides fast data delivery, more and more phone manufacturers are using displays with a high refresh rate of 90 Hz and 120 Hz, which provides smoother graphics rendering. In 2020, we will see more phones with a higher refresh rate, even in the mid-range market.
